Waxahachie CARE serves the areas of Waxahachie, Sardis, Maypearl, Milford, Italy, part of Avalon, Venus in Ellis County, and Forreston with food. In 2009, they helped close to 700 families with utility bills and over 1,400 families with food.

However, as of January 1, 2012, Waxahachie CARE is serving over 6,000 people a year and brings in over 360,000 pounds of food through churches, organizations, and businesses. Your donations and food drives are sincerely welcomed.

Monetary donations are always needed to help with food costs and may be make by check or cash and delivered directly to them or mailed to Waxahachie CARE, PO Box 371, Waxahachie, Texas, 75168. They also need donations of nonfood items such as soap and laundry products, shampoos, toothpaste, deodorant and personal-care items, along with toilet tissue, diapers and cleaning products.

The City of Waxahachie partners with Waxahachie CARE to help struggling families. You can make a monthly or onetime pledge by contacting the water department at 972-397-7330 x 133 or by filling out the form on the back of your water bill.

TXU Electric and Reliant Energy have aid programs for their customers. For every $1.00 you donate to TXU, they will match it by $5.00. So if you donate $5.00, Waxahachie CARE gets $30.00. Please consider contributing to this program. They only have TXU Energy money for the specific service areas listed above. However, they have Reliant Energy money for all Ellis County residents.

They provide this help only in emergencies when the cutoff of service is imminent, and help is limited to one instance a year per household.
